Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies and similar browser storage APEX EWI ("we", "us", "our") uses, and how you can control them. For how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
What Is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit. Because web pages have no memory of their own, cookies let a site recognise your device from one page to the next — a bit like a front-door key that lets the site know it's you when you return. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses; they simply hold small pieces of information such as a preference or an identifier.
What Is a Session Cookie?
A session cookie lives only while you are browsing the site and is deleted when you close your browser or tab. It stops the site treating you as a brand-new visitor on every single page you open. On this site, the closest equivalent is the temporary in-browser copy of unfinished form entries — kept in session storage so your typing isn't lost if you navigate away, and deleted automatically the moment you submit the form or close the tab.
The Cookies We Use
We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. Everything we store falls into two categories: strictly necessary (always active — the site cannot work without them, and they are exempt from consent under UK PECR) and functional (convenience preferences, stored only after you accept them in the cookie banner).
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| apex_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Records whether you accepted or declined functional cookies, so we don't ask again on every visit. | 6 months |
| admin_token | Strictly necessary | Keeps site administrators signed in to the admin area. Never set for regular visitors. | Up to 30 days |
| apex_theme | Functional | Remembers your light / dark theme choice. | 6 months |
| apex_projects_view | Functional | Remembers your last-used filters on the projects page. | 6 months |
| apex-draft:* (session storage) | Functional | Temporary in-browser copy of unfinished form entries (contact form and quote calculators), so your progress isn't lost if you navigate away. | Deleted when you submit the form or close the browser tab |
| theme / nav-open / apex-visited (local storage) | Functional | Small interface preferences — theme fallback, navigation state, and whether you've seen the intro animation before. | Until cleared |

Third-Party Cookies
We set no third-party tracking cookies. There are no analytics services, advertising networks, or social media plugins on this site that place cookies on your device.
Our enquiry forms are protected against spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-first alternative to CAPTCHA. Turnstile runs a short check in your browser when you submit a form to confirm you're human. It does not use cookies, does not track you across websites, and shows no puzzles to solve; the check is processed by Cloudflare Inc. solely to distinguish people from automated bots.
How Do I Manage Cookies?
You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page — declining functional cookies immediately removes any that were already stored. Your browser also lets you view, block, or delete cookies for any site through its privacy settings.
